Cas Blog 11-19-20 (activity)

 Last weekend, I was able to go on a campout with some friends, and it went great! Because of COVID, we had to start planning several weeks in advance, and all get tested to make sure we were safe. We also quarantined after we got tested just to stay extra safe. We camped out at Stephen F. Austin State Park, which was about an hour's drive out of the city, and we made it there with no problems. 

Once we got to the campsite and set up our tents, it was really lovely being outdoors and away from everything else. It reminded me a lot of the boy scout campouts that I used to go on, although it was a lot calmer. We had burgers for dinner and spent the night talking and playing card games. In the morning we got up a little early and did some hiking around the trails, and admired the scenery. Then around 11:00 we packed up and headed back home. I'm very grateful that I was able to go camping with my friends last weekend. I got to see many of them for the first time in a while, and in a way that was safe as well. I think we're planning on having another one, and I'm very excited. 

Learning outcome 1: I feel like I'm getting pretty good at planning things like this out for myself and other people. If you'd asked me if I could plan out something like the trip a few months ago, I don't think I would've said that I could do it.

Learning outcome 3: We planned this trip for several weeks and has to do extra planning to assure that we could all stay safe and make sure none of us have covid.

Cas blog 12-27-21 (Activity)

 With the Christmas season over I've been reflecting a lot on the year, and also what I want to do for next year. That's why I've decided to start my new year's resolution early and get back to exercising. I had a personal trainer for a while, but currently, I don't feel safe going to the gym with other people around, so I'll be doing this on my own. I've been running consistently since early this summer, but I feel like there's more I can do to be in shape. So starting when I get back from my grandma's house, I'm going to do the following workout routine.  100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a half-mile run. I want to do this at least two or three times a week to keep myself in shape, and to supplement the somewhat minimal physical activity I've been getting lately. CAS Blog 1-27-21 (Creative)

    For this blog, I've been working heavily on the creativity part of CAS. I have completed one painting, and am currently working on a second one. Both pieces have been a way for me to experiment with the fact that I have limited colors to work with, but I think they're very interesting. The first painting I made was done using exclusively shades of black and grey, and the one I'm currently working on is exclusively black and white.      I decided to make these paintings because I needed more works for my senior art show, and I didn't want to do a drawing like I have for most of my other works. For one of them, I actually have a sizeable canvas, and I can't wait to get all of it done and filled out.     I would say that this falls under learning outcome 5, showing perseverance and commitment. This is because I have been working on my senior art show for over six months now, and am committed to completing it.

CAS Blog 1-22-20 (Activity)

For the last two weeks, I had been on the Spain trip J-term. The trip was amazing, and I had a great time exploring both Spain and Barcelona. In Barcelona, my favorite place that we went to was the Sagrada Familia. The building was gigantic and it was incredibly detailed and beautiful. If I were to revisit Barcelona I would definitely go there again. In Spain, my favorite place that we went to was the Reina Sofia museum, which had lots of art from Picasso and Dali. My favorite work in the museum was Guernica, because it was enormous and very powerful. The trip was very fun, but it had some challenges. The main challenge was of course speaking Spanish to a lot of people on the trip. However, I feel like my Spanish has improved in all aspects, especially in speaking and listening. I would say that there was a lot of Learning Outcome 2 on the trip, where I overcame my difficulties and learned from them.
