Last weekend I was able to participate in another eagle scout project that was run by one of my friends. This time, we were helping to set up light fixtures and put some plants around the sign at the church that our troop meets at. We got together a good group of scouts, most of which I know from my time in the troop, and did a lot of hard work.

The biggest challenge I'd say was actually getting the soil to where it needed to be. The area around the sign was very big, so they had bought almost 30 bags of soil for us to spread around it. After carrying all of them and putting down the soil, we spent a good amount of the time just trying to get the soil at an equal level in every part of the circle around the sign. Thankfully, my friend who was leading the project was prepared and had provided us with gloves, shovels, and hoes, which made the job a lot easier.

The end result of the project was very good-looking, and I'm happy with how it turned out. In all honesty, I'd always thought the sign had looked kind of ugly, so I'm glad I got to help to make it look nicer. On top of that, I got to see many of my friends who I hadn't seen in nearly nine months.

Learning Outcome 5: We worked together and communicated very well, allowing for us to get the project done rather quickly.

Learning Outcome 7: I reflected on the project, and I'm very glad that I did it. The church has been home to my troop for many years, and the least I can do to thank them for helping us for so many years is to pay it back to them.
